Grab handles
A great marathon racing accessory designed to improve your speed at a portage and aid in the general carrying of the boat. Made from tough, soft formed PVC plastic, finished in black. Typically fitted behind the rear cockpit of a K2, these luggage style handles give rapid purchase for the rear paddler when racing, while the front paddler typically grabs the underside of the front cockpit. This positive handle grip is also a bit safer for wet cold wet hands and generally found to be more user-friendly than traditional end handles for smaller paddlers. When both handle types are used together, more considered and careful handling is promoted – especially important for workhorse club and school K2s.
Handles for K1s
For K1 paddlers, a small and slightly more rigid nylon tube handle is generally preferred, attached at the balancing point on either side of cockpit rim, on the top face. Please note that these handles are only suitable for boats under 10kg and can interfere with a spray deck so are not suitable for all.
